Abstract

This paper aims to provide a description of the halal certification process for food and beverage products that has been done by MUI. The description concerns to the procedures and requirements that must be used in the halal food product certification process. In Addition, this paper explores institutional changes in the halal certification process and its impacts both for producers and for consumers. The presence of law on Halal Product Guarantee No. 33 year 2014, does not resolve the problems regarding halal certification area has become a state problem or an individual problem. Although in fact, the purpose of halal certification is to protect public health. However, various problems arise from the presence of Law No. 33 year 2014
