Abstract

Projector is used to display videos, images, data from a computer on a screen or something with a flat surface such as a wall, etc. Projector can help the teacher in communicating the material without having to write it on the blackboard. When the teacher communicating the material with a series of sentences some of the words cannot be received clearly by the students' memories. Researchers see the difficulties experienced by students in understanding a text, choosing the right learning media can help students understand a text. the researcher helps students to comprehend of reading text to decrease their anxiety by using projector. The research question is formulated as follows is there any significant effect of using projector as a learning media to increase reading comprehension at the seventh grade of junior high school 2 Rambipuji and this research was intended to find out the effect of using projector as a learning media to increase reading comprehension at the seventh grade of junior high school 2 Rambipuji. This research was quasi- experimental quantitative research study. The research design was a pre-test and post-test design. It involved a group of students in the experimental group and a group of students in the control. The population of this research was all students of class VII of junior high school 2 Rambipuji. The samples of this research were taken from 32 students of experimental group (class VII-C) and 32 students of control group (class VII-D). The instrument for collecting data was a test. The data obtained in this research was analysed by using t-test. After analyzing the data, the writer got; (1) The students’ reading comprehension in descriptive text by using projector got the mean 37.96 and standard deviation was 17.40; (2) The students’ reading comprehension in descriptive text by using conventional method got the mean 30.15 and standard deviation was 11.17. The value of tobserved was 8.13 and that of ttable was 1.670. So the value of tobserved was higher than that of ttable. It means that there is significant effect of using projector as a learning media to increase Students reading comprehension because it is proven by a change in value before treatment and after treatment.
