Abstract

This study aims to describe the activities of translating the yellow book in Indonesia. This
kind of activity is widely carried out by students from among students in the East Java
region. In fact, not a few of them have had more than one yellow book translation work.
Based on this, it can be seen that there are opportunities and challenges faced by
translators in realizing their work. To obtain detailed and thorough data researchers use
a qualitative approach. This confirms that the data obtained are in the form of words to
be interpreted further. The data in this study was obtained through open interviews of
2 people who already had a yellow book translation work. After the researcher obtains
the data, the data is analyzed by thematic content analysis. After going through a series
of research stages, the researchers knew that the motivation of translators was to make
it easier for students from various regions and as a means of increasing scientific insight.
The opportunities faced by translators are the absence of translation of words in
Indonesian and the request to translate certain books from among students and ustadz.
Meanwhile, the obstacles faced by translators are technical and linguistic obstacles.
