Abstract

Fika Dwi Sembilan, 2023: The Implementation of Teaching Speaking Skill through Contextual Teaching and Learning at the Tenth Grade of Nuris Senior High School Jember.
Key Words: Contextual Teaching and Learning, Strategy
Teaching English lessons needs an extra model to make the learning process is more meaningful. One of the innovations applied by Nuris Senior High School is the Contextual Teaching and Learning Strategy which help the teacher a lot. This strategy makes the student has more creative thinking about learning English.
Here is the research focus that researcher comes up in this study 1) How are the goals of teaching speaking skill through Contextual Teaching and Learning strategy at the Tenth Grade of SMA NURIS Senior High School Jember? 2) How is the material of teaching speaking through Contextual Teaching and Learning strategy at the Tenth Grade of NURIS Senior High School Jember? 3) How are the steps of teaching speaking skill through Contextual Teaching and Learning strategy at the Tenth Grade of NURIS Senior High School Jember? 4) How is the evaluation of teaching speaking skill through Contextual Teaching and Learning strategy at the Tenth Grade of NURIS Senior High School Jember?
This writing uses a case study research design while the researcher also uses a Qualitative approach. The researcher uses three data collection techniques: Observation, Interview, and document review. The analysis data techniques use the theory from Milles Huberman and Saldana which the content is Data Condensation, Data display, and a brief explanation of the conclusion. In the validity of data, the researcher uses source of triangulation and triangulation method.
The result of this study is (1) The purpose of teaching speaking skill is: a) Encourage the student to apply in their daily life, b) Drill both the motoric skill and intellectual skill. (2) The material used by the teacher is Simple Past and Simple Perfect Tense. (3) The step of teaching speaking skill is: a) Construct knowledge and creativity by themselves, b) Do as far as possible the Inquiry for the topic, c) Develop the student’s curiosity by questioning, d) Create learning community, e) Present the model as the example of learning, f) do the reflection at the end of the meeting. (4) The evaluation of teaching speaking skill is using formative assessment which the scoring is through spoken and written.
