Mastery for VII Grade Students at SMP Darul Lughah Wal Karomah KrkasaanProbolinggo in Academic Year 2023-2024

Vocabulary is needed in language acquisition. As we know that
vocabulary mastery is very useful for practicing other language skills. Mastering
vocabulary is not easy because many factors make words difficult to learn. In
junior high school, English is an important subject with a variety of vocabulary
and students must study as hard as possible because vocabulary is the basis of
English to support language skills. SMP Darul Lughah Wal Karomah is one of the
school that used Scrabble media in teaching vocabulary mastery. Scrabble media
help students learn vocabulary mastery in English.
The research problem of this research are: 1) How does the teacher
implement Scrabble media in teaching vocabulary mastery for VII grade students
at SMP Darul Lughah Wal Karomah Kraksaan-Probolinggo? 2) What is the
teacher's perspective on the implementation of Scrabble media in teaching
vocabulary mastery for VII grade students at SMP Darul Lughah Wal Karomah
Kraksaan-Probolinggo? The research objective of this research are: 1) To know
how the teachers implement Scrabble media in teaching vocabulary mastery for
VII grade students at SMP Darul Lughah Wal Karomah Kraksaan-Probolinggo.
2) Tho know the teacher’s perspective on the implementation of Scrabble media
in teaching vocabulary mastery for VII grade students at SMP Darul Lughah Wal
Karomah Kraksaan-Probolinggo.
Researcher used a qualitative approach with the type of descriptive
research. The research used purposive sampling to take the informant. The data
collection used are observation, interviews, and documentation. The data analysis
used are data condensation, data display, and conclusion. The researcher used
source triangulation, time triangulation, and method triangulation for checking the
validity of data.
The research finding are: 1) Teacher implementing Scrabble media in
teaching vocabulary mastery for VII grade students at SMP Darul Lughah Wal
Karomah Kraksaan-Probolinggo are: Preliminary activity, Core activity, and
Closing activity. 2) Teacher's perspective on the implementation of Scrabble
media in teaching vocabulary mastery is very helpful. The class situation becomes
not monotonous. Students also actively participate in expressing themselves. So
that there is interest or pleasure in following the subject.
