Abstract

Siti Fatimatus Zahro, 2023: Designing A Mini Book for Memorizing Vocabulary to Improve Students Speaking Skill For 7^th Grade of Madrasah Tsanawiah Negeri 2 Jember.

English is one of the general subjects at all school levels. Almost levels of school, there will be English lessons because English has become an international language. Many argue that learning English is difficult, especially in speaking skills. In speaking itself, three elements need to be mastered, such as pronunciation, grammar, and vocabulary. to make it easier for students to learn English the teacher should have an interesting thing to increase the attractiveness of students in learning English. In this research, the researcher finds one way which is using printed teaching materials in the form of mini-books.
Based on the background of the research above, the researcher formulated the research question are (1) How is the design creation of learning media using mini book for memorizing vocabulary to improve students speaking skills for the 7^th Grade of MTsN 2 Jember? (2) How is the quality of the learning media using a mini book for memorizing vocabulary to improve students speaking skills for the 7^th Grade of MTsN 2 Jember? The research objectives refer to the problems that have been formulated previously, while the research objectives are (1) How the design creation of learning media using a mini book to memorize vocabulary to improve students' speaking skills at MTsN 2 Jember is. (2) How the quality of the learning media using the mini book for memorizing vocabulary to improve students' speaking skills for MTsN 2 Jember is.
This research is research with a DBR (Design-Based Research) approach referring to the Reeves model which consists of stages (1) Problem identification and analysis (2) Solution planning (3) Trial and implementation (4) Reflection and results. This research was to develop teaching materials based on Mini Book for English lessons for class VII G in an odd semester at MTs Negeri 2 Jamber. In this study, the data collection technique was using a questionnaire, consisting of: product validator questionnaire, small group trial questionnaire, and field trial questionnaire, to test the validity and the attractiveness of the product for students.
Based on the responses given by the Validators, English subject teachers, and students when carrying out small group and field trials together, the product of developing teaching materials based on English mini books is appropriate for learning so that later the attractiveness and effectiveness of learning using materials teaching based on mini books on English subjects can be more optimal.
