Abstract

Afifah Nurussa'adah, 2023: The implementation of Reading Comprehension Through Scrabble Games at the 8th Grade of Mts Raudlatul Ulum Ledokombo

Reading is a skill that must be learned or mastered by readers, especially reading English. Reading through a scrabble game is a new thing that needs to be learned, where games help students to improve reading comprehensions. The junior high school of raudlatul Ulum Ledokombo, especially the 8th grade, has implemented the reading comprehension through scrabble games. For the reasons, the research questions are: 1) how is the purpose of reading comprehension through scrabble game at the 8th grade of Mts Raudlatul ulum ledokombo academic year 2022-2023? 2). how are the steps of teaching reading comprehension through scrabble game at the 8th grade of Mts Raudlatul Ulum ledokombo academic year 2022-2023?
This research used the qualitative research method and the descriptive study as the design of the research. The research subject of this research were: 22 student’ of 8th grade and an English teacher, the researcher used the purposive sampling to identified and recruited this research subject. the data collection technique of this study were: observation, interview, and document review. after the data collected, the researcher analyze them with Miles, Huberman, And Saldana model by data condensation, data display, and drawing and verifying conclusion. the data validity of this research used triangulation source.
The findings of this research were: 1) The purpose of reading comprehension through scrabble games at the 8th grade of Mts Raudlatul Ulum Ledokombo academic year 2022-2023 is expected students in the eighth grade would be able to: a) Identify critically, b) Give Response Actively, c) Compile Creatively, d) Discuss Wisely, and e) Present the Report Result to the Class with Confidence. 2) The steps for learning reading comprehension through scrabble games in grade 8 of Mts Raudlatul Ulum Ledokombo for the 2022-2023 academic year are: a) The teacher gives orders to students to compose verbal and verbal with linking verbs in the form of statements, negatives and questions. b) Students are asked to make group discussions. c) Students are asked to understand vocabulary according to the material using scrabble games. d) Each group comes to the front of the class to present the results of their report in front of the class.
