Abstract

Keywords: Arabic learning, reading skills, and the problem learning Arabic. In this global era, humans are facing many challenges and competition. Science and technology (IPTEK) development every years, the progress of science and technology makes people to be able to follow these developments. To counter this phenomenon, people must master at least foreign language, such as Arabic. Because Arabic is one of the international languages. Thus, learning them is important in human life to meet these challenges. Therefore, the government is trying to design the appropriate Arabic language curriculum as it tries to equip Indonesian students to master the Arabic language. But a fact in the language education in general, and in the teaching of the Arabic language in particular, we find many facts. Including the achievement of the objectives of education does not fit the standards of competence that include in the curricula. It is well known that the general objectives of teaching Arabic are all students must be able to absorb the four skills in Arabic. But These goals can not be achieved because they have more problems in education. So the researcher tries to research these problems. Based on this, The main focus of this research is: (1) What are the problems faced by teachers in teaching reading skills at the Islamic high school "Madinatul Ulum" Jenggawah Jember? (2) What are the problems faced by students in teaching reading skills at the Islamic high school "Madinatul Ulum" Jenggawah Jember? Because the researcher wanted to research the phenomenon that I presented. And then understand them and interpret their meanings. The phenomenological methods were used in this research. The data collection methods used are observation, interview and documentation. After the data collection. Then analyzed by data reduction, data review, extraction and revision. The researcher's conclusion from this research is (1) the problems of teachers in teaching reading skills at the Islamic secondary school. The city of science includes the difficulty of increasing the student motivation, the problem of increasing student vocabulary and the problem of the teacher's efficiency. (2) and the problems of students in teaching reading skills at the Islamic secondary school Science City there are similarities and differences in them. The equation is that students and students alike have problems learning Arabic in the area of teaching vocabulary, materials, student background and lesson time. The difference between student and student problems is motivation and learning strategy.
