Abstract

Being a single parent is not an easy thing as a housewife will experience financial difficulties, lack of work experience, knowledge and skills. Motherless mothers are part of society that needs to be empowered. Yatim Mandiri has a program to empower orphan mothers, namely the Bunda Mandiri Sejahtera (BISA) program. Through this program, it is possible to improve the economy and welfare of the families of orphans. Research focus (1) How is women empowered by the Mother Mandiri Prosperous Program (BISA) by the Jember Regency Branch of the Yatim Mandiri Institution? (2) What are the supporting and inhibiting factors for women's empowerment in the Bunda Mandiri Sejahtera (BISA) program by the Jember Regency Branch of the Yatim Mandiri Institution. Objectives, (1) to describe the women's empowerment of the Independent Prosperous Mother Program (BISA) by the Jember Regency Branch of the Yatim Mandiri Institution. (2) To describe the inhibiting and supporting factors for women's empowerment in the Bunda Mandiri Sejahtera (BISA) program at the Yatim Mandiri Jember Regency Branch. This research includes qualitative research with a descriptive type. Data collection techniques use interviews, observation and documentation. The results of this research, Yatim Mandiri Jember carried out the empowerment of the BISA mother program in accordance with the seven stages of empowerment, namely the preparation stage, assessment stage, alternative program planning and action plan formulation stage, program implementation stage, monitoring and evaluation stage and termination stage. Yatim Mandiri Jember applies the principles of empowerment, namely the principle of equality, the principle of participation and the principle of sustainability. Implementing an empowerment pattern, namely human development, business development and environmental development. And the aim of implementing the BISA program is to improve the income of orphan families. Supporting factors are the availability of resources and active community participation. Meanwhile, the inhibiting factor is the lack of skills and knowledge of the community.
