Abstract

Eka Nurfauziah Dian Pertiwi, 2021. Using Song in Teaching English Speaking class at Darul Lughah Wal Karomah Islamic Boarding School Sidomukti, Kraksaan,Probolinggo. Speaking is one of English skill that should be mastered by the students. People are good at the language as long as they can speak it. Yet, the teacher usually used lecturing method in teaching English and students didn’t have spirit to study English especially speaking skill. Therefore, the English teacher used song in teaching English speaking class. Therefore, the researcher was interested in conducting her research at Darul Lughah Wal Karomah Islamic Boarding School Sidomukti, Kraksaan,Probolinggo. This research focuses on : 1) How is the teaching and learning process of speaking class for students at English lover club program of Darul Lughah Wal Karomah Islamic boarding school Sidomukti, Kraksaan, Probolinggo by using song ?, 2) What are the advantages and disadvantages in teaching English speaking class for students English lover club program of Darul Lughah Wal Karomah Islamic boarding school Sidomukti, Kraksaan, Probolinggo by using song ?, 3) What are the teacher’s efforts in teaching English speaking class for students at English lover club program of Darul Lughah Wal Karomah Islamic boarding school Sidomukti, Kraksaan, Probolinggo by using song? This research is qualitative in nature, the researcher used Miles Huberman and Saldana theory which consists of three steps, such as: data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing. While for data collection technique, the researcher used observation, interview, and document review. The results of the research are : 1.) The teaching and learning process of speaking class for students at English lover club program of Darul Lughah Wal Karomah Islamic boarding school Sidomukti, Kraksaan, Probolinggo by using song, especially in children garden class, There were several steps : the students assigned to sitting in a circle, the students listened to the song that had prepared while the teacher giving the correct song lyrics but the lyrics of the song did not allow it to be seen first, instruct the students to write what they have heard according to their abilities when the song is playing, instruct the students to see the results of their own writing by looking at the lyrics the correct song that have gave before, instruct the students to saying after teacher said sentence by sentence in the song lyrics, asking the students to sing along while the song play, asking the students to come forward one by one to the front to sing the song with pleasant. 2.) The advantages and disadvantages in teaching English speaking class for students English lover club program of Darul Lughah Wal Karomah Islamic boarding school Sidomukti, Kraksaan, Probolinggo by using song, especially in children garden class, the advantages : they were be easier to speak in English , they were strengthen in memorizing, they talked more fluently and about the disadvantages teacher said that they were very happy because singing like the class would be losing control but the teacher can handled them during in speaking class and the teacher said that their differences of characteristics students because not all students can receive faster. 3.) The teacher’s efforts in teaching English speaking class for students at English lover club program of Darul Lughah Wal Karomah Islamic boarding school Sidomukti, Kraksaan, Probolinggo by using song, especially in children garden class, Students assigned to choosing a songs that students love to made them more pleasant to listen and easier to pronounce the song but the song has been limited, the song must be educational song and the students assigned to sing the song that they have chosen to improving their pronunciation also, so they can speak in English orally
