Abstract

Dewi Putri Nurjanah, NIM. 20156040, 2020: The Implementation of ESP Reading Materials tBrongh Web-Based' Learning in Teaching Reading Comprehension For Ihe Second Year Students in SMAK Santo Paulus Jember SMAK Santo Paulus implemented English for Specific Purpose (ESP) that mostly implemented in vocational high school because vacational high school aim to educatestudenis to have specilhe skill aNer Ihey graduate. In fact, PSP has wo branches namely Enalish for Oceupational Purpose (EOP) and English For “Academic Purpose (EAP) where SMAK santo Paulus implemented the BAP one. Moreover, the teacher in SMAK Santo Paulus also utilized technology in creating, ihe materials. The (eacher creaed the materials through several web-based Ieaming and shared tbe materials also through web-based Jeaming. SMAK Santo Paulus also concerned about information literaey proved by Ihe implementation or independent reading, section that conducts every Wednesday Tor farty Five minutes. Because of the unigueness about the implementation of ESP in senior hiuh sehool, 1he innovation of technology and ihe concem of information literacy the researoher interested to conduct this study “The formulations of ihe researeh Focus are: 1) how did the teacher plan the tendhing or reading comprehension by using ESP Reading materials Ihrough web- based learning? 2) how did the tencher execute the teaching of reading comprehension by using ESP Reding matenals through web-based learning? 3) how did the teacher doliver feedback to the studen''s reading comprehension While the objectives of this study are to deseribe the research focus Ihat have been mentioned before. "The design of this study was guaitative approach wilh descriptive case study. The data colleetian teehnigues of this study were observation, interview and document study. The technigues of analyzing the data consisted OT data condensation, data display and draswing and verifving conelusions. The validity fthis research was riangulation by method and member checking. The findings of this research were: 1) The teacher's plan in the teaching of' reading comprehension by using ESP reading mmerials through web-based Ieaming that had two main discussion a) kinds of web-based learning used in lendhing reading comprehensian, mamely TED-Fd TALK Youtube Video, "TeAchnology and the teacher's own website, namely wu: hedivighbook.com b) steps in the planning OP the learning activities in lesson plan 2) The tenchers @xecution in the teaching of reading comprehension by using ESP reading materials throush web-based leaming included four stases. a) Building knowledge oFihe field B) Models of the ext. e) Joint construction Of the text. d) Independent construction OF the text 3) The tenchers feedback in teaching reading comprehension of ESP reading materials through web-based learning had three kinds, namely written feedback. oral feedback and peer Feedback.
