Abstract
Jihan Kamila, 2026 : The Effect Of Telepromter In Improving Speaking Skill Of Students Vocational High School Key Word: Telepromter, Speaking Skill. Speaking skill is one of the important English skills that vocational high school students need to master because it supports communication in academic and professional contexts. However, many students still face difficulties in speaking English, especially in fluency, pronunciation, vocabulary, grammar, and self-confidence. Therefore, an innovative learning medium is needed to help students improve their speaking ability. One of the digital media that can be used is a teleprompter, which provides visual text guidance to help students speak more fluently and confidently. This study aimed to investigate whether there was a significant effect of using a teleprompter in improving the speaking skills of eleventh-grade students at SMKN 2 Jember. The research employed a quantitative approach with a quasiexperimental design using a non-equivalent control group design. The population of this study consisted of eleventh-grade students of SMKN 2 Jember. The samples were class XI TKJ 1 as the experimental class and class XI TKP as the control class. The data were collected through speaking tests in the form of pretest and post-test. The data analysis used normality test, homogeneity test, and independent sample t-test with the assistance of SPSS 27. The findings showed that the students in the experimental class experienced significant improvement in speaking skill after receiving treatment using a teleprompter. The post-test scores of the experimental class were higher than those of the control class. The use of a teleprompter helped students improve their fluency, pronunciation, confidence, vocabulary, and grammar during speaking activities. Therefore, the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted, while the null hypothesis (H0) was rejected. In conclusion, the use of a teleprompter as a learning medium had a significant effect on improving students’ speaking skills. Thus, teleprompter media can be considered an effective and innovative medium for teaching speaking, especially for vocational high school students
