Improving education quality should be supported by the increase of teachers’ quality to be professionals. The professional teacher refers to teachers who have received recognition in the form of decrees, diplomas, deeds, and certificates. Besides, teacher professionalism is influenced by work motivation factors. Remembering the very important task of teachers in producing graduation who are ready to continue to the higher education, the professionalism of teachers must be considered as well as possible.
This study empirically examines the variables in the research that have been formulated in the formulation of the problem, namely: (1) Is there an effect of certification status and work motivation on the professionalism of Islamic religious education teachers in Madrasah Tsanawiyah, Tanggul District?. (2) Is there an effect of work motivation on the professionalism of teachers of Islamic religious education in Madrasah Tsanawiyah, Tanggul District?. (3) Is there an interaction effect of certification status and work motivation on the professionalism of teachers of Islamic religious education at Madrasah Tsanawiyah, Tanggul District?.
The aims of this study are as follows: (1) to examine the effect of certification status on the professionalism of teachers of Islamic religious education in Madrasah Tsanawiyah, Tanggul District. (2) To examine the effect of work motivation on the professionalism of teachers of Islamic religious education in Madrasah Tsanawiyah, Tanggul District. (3) to examine the effect of the interaction of certification status and work motivation on the professionalism of teachers of Islamic religious education at Madrasah Tsanawiyah, Tanggul District.
Approaches and types of research using quantitative research. According to the nature of the analysis using correlation research, the type is univariate. Meanwhile, in this study, the independent variables are certification status and work motivation, while the dependent variable is teacher professionalism. The population of all Islamic Religious Education teachers in Madrasah Tsanawiyah, Tanggul District, is 74 people. Sampling in this study using population research techniques because the subject is less than 100 people. Data collection techniques using a questionnaire. Data analysis in this study used analysis of variance assisted by the SPSS version 21 application.
The results of the analysis showed that: (1) there is no significant effect of certification status on the professionalism of teachers of Islamic religious education as shown from the results of the analysis of variance obtained a significance value of 0.603 > 0.05, (2) There is a significant effect of work motivation on the teachers’ professionalism of islamic educational clumps showed a value with a significance level of 90.9% (a = 0.05). The significance number (P value) is 0.000 < 0.05. On the basis of this comparison, Ho is rejected. (3) There is no interaction effect between certification status and work motivation on the teachers’ professionalism of Islamic religious education as shown from the results of the analysis of variance, a significance value of 0.193 > 0.05 was obtained.
