Abstract

The purpose of this study was to describe the sequence and stages of second language acquisition, second language acquisition strategies, and the factors that influence second language acquisition in early childhood in the Kencong Kraton Jember Dewi Masyithoh I Kindergarten. To achieve the objectives of the study, in this study a phenomenological descriptive qualitative approach was used. The data collection technique uses observation techniques with conversational listening models, interview techniques, and documentary studies. After the data is collected, it is analyzed using a spiral analysis model. The results of the study show that (1) The sequence and stages of second language acquisition in early childhood include: the stages of one word to two words and the stage of obtaining complex sentences. (2) Strategies or methods for second language acquisition in early childhood, namely (a) guided second language acquisition, and (b) natural second language acquisition. (3) The success of second language acquisition in early childhood is influenced by several factors, including (a) environmental factors, (b) first language factors, and (c) age factors.
