Abstract

In the Qur'an, there are many verses that describe how an ideal Islamic leader can protect the
people. But today, many leaders do not reflect the proper behavior according to the guidance of
the Qur'an. In fact, not infrequently many take advantage of the authority of their answers for
personal gain. If it is not straightened out, of course, the behavior of deviant leaders will make the
people even more miserable. For this reason, an understanding of Islamic leadership is needed that
provides an explanation that is more acceptable to the community. On the other hand, Ustaz Abdul
Somad is an influential cleric who has millions of followers. This can be seen from the number of
viewers on YouTube featuring Ustaz Abdul Somad and watched by millions of people. Through
the watch, listen, note method, this paper tries to critically analyze the discourse on Islamic
Leadership delivered by Ustaz Abdul Somad on YouTube. The results showed that the leadership
concept of Ustaz Abdul Somad's oral interpretation perspective based on QS. An-Nisa(4):58 is to
have 2 criteria: trust (to Allah, family and subordinates), and fair (put something in its place). While
the type of Islamic leadership according to Ustaz Abdul Somad is according to QS Ali Imron: 159,
namely the type of democratic leadership.
