Abstract

Faiqotul Himmah Larifandi, 2023: The Implementation of Dictogloss Technique in Teaching Listening on 8th Grade of MTS NU 1 Purwoharjo.
Keywords: Teaching Listening, Dictogloss Technique.
Listening is a natural part of our everyday experience. Most people spend most of their time listening with various degrees of attention to language and other stimuli. Juwita Sari and Adnan Quoted that it was found Many students still had difficulties in mastering listening skill. Dictogloss Technique is one of the techniques in teaching listening, this technique is developed from the dictation technique. Dictogloss Technique was expected to assist students’ ability in listening skills. Using Dictogloss Technique in Teaching Listening is necessary for English as Foreign Language (EFL) students in a Listening classroom since listening is considered one of the skills in English that must be mastered.
The research problems of this research are: 1) How is Implementation of the Dictogloss Technique in Teaching Listening Skills on the 8th Grade Students of MTS NU 1 Purwoharjo? 2) What are the problems faced when implementing the Dictogloss Technique in Teaching Listening Skills on the 8th Grade Students of MTS NU 1 Purwoharjo? The research objectives of this research are: 1) To know how Implementation of the Dictogloss Technique in Teaching Listening Skills on the 8th Grade Students of MTS NU 1 Purwoharjo. 2) To know what the problems faced when Implementing the Dictogloss Technique in Teaching Listening Skills on the 8th Grade Students of MTS NU Purwoharjo.
The researcher used a qualitative approach with the type of descriptive research. The research used purposive sampling to choose the informant. The data collection used are observation, interviews, and documentation. The data analysis used are data condensation, data display, and conclusion. The researcher used the Triangulation of Source and Triangulation of Method for checking the validity of data.
The research Finding are: 1) The Implementation of Dictogloss Technique on the 8th Grade of MTS NU 1 Purwoharjo. Dictogloss Technique assists the students in listening skill mastery, but it does not totally reach the standard score of the English subject since several problems are still found during the teaching and learning process. 2) The problems faced when implementing the dictogloss technique in teaching listening skills are: 1) students’ concentration. 2) Students’ background knowledge of Vocabulary.
Based on the findings, it can be concluded. Each learning technique has advantages and disadvantages, as well as the Dictogloss Technique. The advantage of this technique that is make students active in discussion during the learning process because this technique applies the concept of two heads are always better than one head. And the disadvantage of this technique is verbalism, which means all the information is through sound, so the learning material that requires technical and practical skills will be a little difficult when using this technique.
