Abstract
Learning the Arabic language must be distinct from the teachings of Islam, where one of the main reasons someone wants to learn Arabic is to delve into the teachings of Islam itself. Fluent speaking skills become essential for someone to acquire religious knowledge from sources. This motivation has been continuously passed down from generation to generation until today. This is evident in the proliferation of Islamic boarding schools (ma'had) that teach Arabic language and Islamic teachings, including Ma'had El-Fataa in Banyuwangi. The high interest in learning Arabic as the language foundation of Islam opens a wide door for developing teaching materials based on Islamic teachings. Based on this background, the researcher poses three problem formulations in this study. 1) How is the design of Islamic teaching-based learning materials to train speaking skills for students of Ma'had El-Fataa Banyuwangi? 2) To what extent is the validity of Arabic language learning materials based on Islamic teachings to train speaking skills students at Ma'had El-Fataa Banyuwangi? 3) How effective is the design of Arabic language materials based on Islamic teachings in training speaking skills for students at Ma'had El-Fataa Banyuwangi?
Using the R&D research type and the EDDIE model, the results of this study indicate that 1) The design of Arabic language teaching materials based on Islamic teachings to train speaking skills takes the form of a textbook containing 10 lesson units, where each unit consists of conversation texts and a collection of speaking skill exercises. Evaluation questions and vocabulary glossaries are inserted in the middle and end of the textbook. 2) In terms of the Arabic language aspect, these teaching materials were assessed by Ustadz Dr. Faishal Madhi as the validator and obtained a score of 97 with the predicate "excellent." Meanwhile, in terms of material organization, these teaching materials were assessed by Ustadz Mustaqim, M.Pd, as the validator and a score of 88 was obtained with the predicate "very good." 3) After conducting a post-test on 19 students, The t-calculation value of 6.159 was compared, while the t-table value was 1.734 with an alpha value (α) of 0.05. The T-calculation value greater than the T-table indicates that the use of study materials effectively improves students' speaking skill.
