Vocabulary is a crucial aspect of language comprehension. Game media in language learning can serve as a means to increase students' enthusiasm and engagement in the learning process. The researcher found that MTs Al-Azhar Sempu Banyuwangi students felt bored with Arabic language learning that relied solely on books. Portable Engklek Arabic is a complex game with various aspects such as competing to control territories, solving problems in challenge areas, and more. The researcher is interested in developing this game media to enhance vocabulary and students' understanding of reading Arabic sentences.
This research aims to develop Portable Engklek Arabic media for Arabic language learning, gauge students' responses to the media, and assess its feasibility and effectiveness in vocabulary learning when applied to students of MTs Al-Azhar Sempu Banyuwangi.
The research method used is research and development (R&D) with the ADDIE model, which involves five stages: Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The population and sample of this study are the 8th-grade students at MTs Al-Azhar Sempu Banyuwangi.
The findings of this research are as follows: First, in the design and development stages, the researcher used the CANVA application to design the game. The game board measures 250 cm × 150 cm. It includes vocabulary cards and gaco, which were printed professionally. Second, the Portable Engklek Arabic media received a score of 96% from the media learning validator, rated as "excellent," and 93% from the material validator, rated as "good." These scores indicate that the game media is suitable for Arabic vocabulary learning. Third, the hypothesis test results showed a sig-2 value of 0.000 < 0.05, leading to the rejection of H0 and acceptance of Ha. This significant value demonstrates that the developed game media is effective for vocabulary learning and can improve students' learning outcomes.
