Islamic boarding schools are one of the auspices of religious educational
institutions that have been recognized for their existence since before Indonesia's
independence. The education system is different from the formal education system so it is
considered unique. The real role of Islamic boarding schools in building civilization has its
own characteristics and characteristics - foreign. This includes when the pesantren makes a
multicultural-based learning curriculum system that is implemented in it. As reflected in
the implementation of a multicultural-based curriculum in two Islamic boarding schools,
namely PP. Al-Falah Silo-Jember and PP. Nurul Ulum Mayang, Jember. This focus is to
reveal: first, how is the planning of a multicultural-based curriculum in Islamic boarding
schools? Second, how is the implementation of a multicultural-based curriculum in Islamic
boarding schools? Third, how is the evaluation of the multicultural-based curriculum in
Islamic boarding schools? The purpose of this study is to analyze, understand and describe
the planning, implementation, and evaluation of a multicultural-based curriculum in PP.
Nurul Ulum Mayang-Jember and PP. Al-Falah Silo-Jember.
The three focuses were examined with the curriculum management theory approach
proposed by Saylor, Alexander, and Lewis. This study uses a descriptive qualitative
approach and the type of case study research with data collection techniques carried out
through observation, interviews, and documentation. Furthermore, the data is analyzed
using several steps, namely: condensing the data, presenting the data, and drawing
conclusions or verification.
Based on the data and analysis it was found that: First, the planning of a
multicultural Islamic boarding school-based curriculum uses a student-centered design
concept, second, the implementation of a multicultural-based curriculum includes carrying
out student activity programs (daily, weekly, monthly and yearly), the process of
implementing learning using the direct learning model. , and evaluating, thirdly, evaluating
the curriculum based on the multicultural values of Islamic boarding schools using the
CIPP model (background, input, process, and results).
